I didn’t get a letter out in March which is a sign of being really busy.  Here are some projects with interesting stories behind them.

Chuck brought in several family photo albums and had us scan them all and make copies of all 300 pages.

Tom and Tammy brought in some regular 8mm films to be transferred to digital while Robin brought in film footage that had been transferred to a VHS tape and then she had us transfer it to digital files.  Both had footage of people interacting (inappropriately) with bears in Yellowstone Park in the 1970s.  With a mother bear and her cubs close up I can’t believe they weren’t harmed.

Another film clip I isolated was from an oil field in Texas.  I thought you might find that interesting as well.

Terry had us create a memorial slideshow for her mother.  It had quite a variety of images.  Most slideshows we make are chronological but this one was randomized and very interesting. See a clip of it here.

Barbara brought in a family history project for us to scan and save into 1 multi-page pdf.  She told us that she has two homestead families in her lineage and that they were printers in Philly who had made the first 50 copies of the declaration of independence. This is a nice sketch that was included in her scans of photos and documents
.
Steve had a very large and very faint family tree (small image at left) that we scanned in pieces and then restore to its former glory.  Now you could see much, much more information.  He can share this with lots of other family members.

A piece of the original family tree we scanned.

Barbara brought in an audio cassette of her Great Grandmother Addie Wilkinson telling her life growing up.  She recorded it in 1993 when she was 95 years old (born in 1898.  She tells of how her family moved to New Mexico area before it was a state.  That they off loaded from the train early to avoid the tariffs of the Spanish who owned the land then. She is quite eloquent and had quite a story to share with her descendants.  What a treasure. Listen to our transfer from cassette to digital file here.

James brought in a commercial silent 16mm film of Farmer Alfalfa and the Blind Pig made by the Keystone camera company.  I added some of our free music to it.  You can watch the whole film here.

Louis Beard and his wife visited Hawaii in January and were there while the volcano was erupting.  It was notable to the natives and was a moving lifetime experience for the Beards.  This is one of his amazing photos that we printed for him.

Richard brought in his large collection of various memory cards and thumb drives and had us copy them all onto one larger flash drive.  We have all sorts of adapters to help you retrieve your memorabilia from old devices.
