We’ve Moved!
Leave A Legacy was scheduled to move over 3 weeks and to not close in the process and we were successful. We love our new home! It is bigger and brighter and owned by us! We have room to spread out, room for the film, video & audio to be back in the main store with us and room for a grandchild to join us.
I shot a quick video to show you around our new store.
Aspen, our daughter, had her baby while we were in the midst of moving the store and now daughter and granddaughter have come back to work. With all the activity it has been some time since I wrote a newsletter sharing some of the interesting projects we’ve been working on.
Jennifer brought in these photos of her grandfather in police uniform. They have no other photos of him in a police uniform and he wasn’t a very smiley guy so they are printing lots of the smiling image. Some of our restorations are unbelievable and this is one of them. She ordered several copies to share with everyone in the family.
Barbara heard me make a presentation at their community in Brighton a few months ago. She and her friend drove up to Fort Collins with her special scrapbook about her kids’ ancestors. She wants us to scan it all in and print out several copies for her to give to her 3 kids and grandchildren. Here is a sample of a few of the pages.
Margie brought in a box full of super 8mm movie film reels. We transferred it all for her into digital files on a flash drive. We made a separate file for each film. Here is a sample film transfer showing a little one scooting around and having trouble with the hat that was put on her head.
Rosemary brought in a few negatives for us to scan and print. She needed them quickly for her sharing at her mother’s funeral. She was glad to get them quickly and that the images were of the people she thought they were.
Dianna brought in a large portrait that was damaged. She had us scan it in, restore it and reprint it in 2 sizes. She told us that the portrait is of Steve Utter her 3x great grandfather. He was one of the two Utter brothers who ran around with their friend Wild Bill Hickok in Deadwood, NM. This part of family history was almost lost until they found this damaged photo out in her great uncle’s barn. Then she did some digging and actually got a call from the university historian who was writing a book about the Utter Brothers, eventually filling her in on all of her family’s American heritage. Here is a photo I found online of the Utter brothers at the Hickok grave. The monument read “Wild Bill, J.B. Hickok. Killed by the assassin Jack McCall in Deadwood, Black Hills, August 2, 1876. Pard, we will meet again in the happy hunting ground to part no more. Goodbye. Colorado Charlie, C.H. Utter.” What a treat to work on this project for her family.
Please come and visit us at our new location near the 7-eleven at Prospect & Lemay and bring in your priceless memories to be digitized.
