All of last year we had a contract for the government (National Forrest Service) where we scanned over 143,000 documents to searchable pdf for their library archive.
9.5mm film we transferred to digital
Claudia brought in several old photo albums for us to scan. Each album was saved into a separate folder. We can scan entire pages from albums or individual photos on the page. We saved all of her images to 6 flash drives. It is great for her to share all these memories with the family so that not just one person is the holder of all the memories. I like scanning the full page so that you can get your ancestors hand writing and descriptions of the photo events. I enjoyed the costumes from this 1960 dance recital…..so elaborate.
Ready for a big dose of client inspiration?
Happy New Year to all of you. We hope you have a peaceful and blessed new year.
Amy brought in a 3.5” square photo of her with her siblings from many years ago. She had us scan it in, restore and then reprint several copies as 4×6. She was amazed at the restoration and happy to restore this memory from the good old days.
Don brought in over 700 slides to scan and and 17 rolls of 9.5mm movie film to transfer. We transferred all of it to digital and gave him digital files on a flash drive. This slide shows his daughter on a new Tike Bike. I had one that was much the same when I was young. I always called it my Tike Tike and it was all made of wood but had the same tassels on the handle bars. The 9.5mm film is really cool and has a single sprocket hole in the middle between the still images. See one of his films that shows launching a glider plane with a large sling shot! 9.5mm films started in 1922.
We’ve laid out, printed and bound several more books. Lorraine had us edit photos for a book that she is making. Bill had many letters and photos from lots of family and friends that we pulled all together into a bound book for his wife to celebrate her birthday. Marc had us layout, print and bind a book of emails and photos between his wife and her grandmother who passed away recently. What a treasure of memories between them.
Bridgette brought in both 273 negatives and 1 roll regular 8mm film to be transferred to digital. She had images from a military deployment and from Disney world. This negative shows a motorcycle adorned with some large antlers. She had us add a song to the background of her film file and lighten the images. This clip shows the wedding film we transferred and edited.
Kari brought in some VHS tapes for us to transfer to digital at Leave A Legacy. She relayed that she was the coach of Becky Hammon while at Colorado State University. We found some footage of her playing. Becky is well known in the NBA and WNBA (player, coach, hall of fame, etc).
Kris brought in photos and a photo album of old photos. She relayed the story of her French Grandmother Catherine de Jordy who moved from Canada to Vermont and wanted to marry an Irishman, Frank Delenanty, but his mother did not approve in 1920. Catherine then moved to Denver and work as a Harvey Girl (waitress for Fred Harvey’s railway restaurants on the Santa Fe Railroad), was very adventurous, even climbing Long’s Peak. Frank finally caught up with her in 1928 and married her. What a fun photo and great stories to share!
Heather brought in several 8mm movie reels to be transferred to digital files on a flash drive. She had some surprising footage of a huge flock of white birds being attracted to her family while visiting a public garden. We gave her separate mp4 files for each film reel. MP4 files work well on both PC and MAC.
Cindy brought in several VHS tapes to be transferred to digital files on a flash drive. We saw this gem of a video segment from one of the tapes. It was a local Dallas, TX cable program called Dallas Music Videos. The editing quality shows that it is definitely from the 80s. What a blast from the past!
